Down through the years, family names pick up associations. In the Appalachian region of Maryland, West Virginia and Pennsylvania, the name Sisler is known for lumber. Sisler Lumber was born when Glenn Sisler and his brother Ray bought a team of horses and a portable saw mill. They began supplying the market for blocking lumber in the steel mills of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio. Today, their resources have expanded to include premium grade hardwoods to furniture makers and veneer logs and hardwoods to moulding manufacturers. Industrial grade lumber goes to pallet companies, coal mines and railroads, while blocking lumber is still being sold to the steel mills. |
